Our YMCA is saddened by the loss of one of our dedicated volunteers, Bob Prewitt. Bob lent his time to many Hopewell Valley organizations, and recently helped our Y reinvigorate its annual golf outing – which is now renamed as a tribute to his late friend, Tom Jackson.
On a very personal note, when I was growing up in Pennington I was lucky to know “Mr. Prewitt” as the father of my friends, friend to my parents, funny guy, golfer, sleepover host, breakfast maker, coach, and even the School Board President that handed me my high school diploma. But in the last few years, I also got to connect with Bob as a peer when he stepped up to reorganize our YMCA’s golf outing and transform the memory of his friend Tom Jackson into our Y’s amazing Tom Jackson Sports Fund. Turns out Bob was the business owner that you wanted as a neighbor. The creative thinker and hard worker you wanted on your board. The story teller and sommelier you wanted to be drinking with. The community minded guy, who if you came to him with a cool idea would always say yes – whether it was to a crazy project to put 70 oxen around town, or to park a beer truck in his parking lot for the Hopewell Block Party. Bob: you left us too soon, but I’m thankful for all you’ve done and all you’ve left us.
The YMCA joins Bob’s family and everyone in Hopewell Valley in mourning the loss of our friend.
